Day Shift movie review

Today, it seems like every day there is a new movie. It can be very exciting but also expensive. If you add in transportation, tickets, concessions and tickets, a night at the movies can run to over $100 for a family of four. Here is where dollar theatres come in. Dollar theaters are movie theaters that show second-run films for a reduced price. For families or individuals with limited budgets, this makes it much easier to go to the movies. Even though the prints may have some scratches and the sound may not be as clear, this does nothing to diminish the overall experience. Also, you can see low-budget film genres in dollar theaters that may not be shown at first run theaters. If you are looking for a budget-friendly option for your next night out, consider visiting your local dollar theater.

Escapism is something we all want right now. And what better form of escapism than a schlocky horror comedy? For these dark times, "Day Shift," is the perfect film. It's trashy, campy, and full if cheap thrills. It's also incredibly timely. The film is set in a world where vampires have emerged from the shadows and now live peacefully among us. But as the film's protagonist, Jody (played by Vanessa Hudgens), soon discovers, not all vampires are created equal. Jody must determine which one is good or bad. She must deal with corrupt cops and nosy neighbors as she goes along. It's a wild ride, from beginning to finish, and exactly the type of mind-numbing entertainment that we need right now. Watch "Day Shift" now on Netflix. You won’t regret it.

The opening act of the film is when Bud steps up his vampire hunting in order to earn $10,000 in less than a week. He is a Los Angeles pool cleaner from the lower classes who goes on a quest for vampires in order to steal their teeth and sell them for money. Bud's mentor was Big John Elliott (aka Snoop Dogg), who was kicked out of the vampire hunters union for breaking rules and other disciplinary violations. Bud, who is a vampire hunter, tries to increase his income by hunting more vampires. He earns $10,000 in less then a week. His efforts lead to him rejoining the union and earning the respect of the mentor.

Bud and his daily financial woes are unaware of a plot being developed in the City of Angels. Audrey San Fernando, also known as Karla Souza, is the owner and face of a fast growing real estate firm. Despite being many centuries old, she looks great in the superbly fitted power suits that she wears. Although "Day Shift," or "The Shift," is not particularly subversive or satirical, the decision to make the film’s most frightening vampire a real-estate mogul is a nice joke. Audrey hopes to create a safe place for bloodsuckers and vampires by purchasing several properties in Bud's neighbourhood. After discovering that he was an elderly vampire who had killed her and pulled her teeth, she falls in love with his character. This is a very campy movie but worth it if Karla Souza is a fan.

I'm not sure if "Day Shift" is a great movie, but it's definitely a fun one. It falls under the category of trashy movies, using classic tropes as well as cliches. There is also a lot if placeholder speech. But, it's also very well made. Everyone in the cast does their best to give the impression that they know the joke. But, at the same time, it makes the situation appear completely ridiculous. This is a poor example of the skillful construction. Day Shift is a funny and silly movie that you should watch.
